Ethanol is widely used as solvent for paints ,lacquers ,tincture iodine , cough syrups , perfumes etc.

When chlorine reacts with dichloromethane in the presence of heat or light it forms chloroform so that trichloromethane.
Concentrated sulphuric acid is used as a dehydrating agent in the process of getting ethene from ethanol.
In cold countries Ethanol is used as an antifreeze.
